Re: OT: Wireless Internet

Networking equipment that uses electric wiring can bought from any
number of outlets
(http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8868399&type=product&id=1210290067623);
I've no idea how well it works.

Several years back, as I was laying another CAT line for a forth computer, a read about equipment that turned your house electrical wiring into a LAN - like you said, Robert, you "plug some sort of modem into an electric wall outlet, and you're online". I thought that as soon as it sound like it was "ready for Prime Time" I'd buy it. But it seems to have faded away. I've been listening for further news, but...nothing. -BrianH. -----Original Message----- From: Robert Holmgren ** Reply to message from tebrake@xxxxxxxx on Mon, 30 Jun 2008 20:21:15 -0400
As I recall, this thread began with a query about the deployment of wireless networks across communities (WiMax).
In rural communities, I'd like to see high-speed Internet delivered over the power lines. Plug some sort of modem into an electric wall outlet, and you're online. They tested this in Korea with several MILLION electric power customers, and it worked. ----------------------------- Robert Holmgren holmgren@xxxxxxxx -----------------------------
