Carl: Bingo! That SA command works. In fact, I don't even need Filename if I'm saving the file I'm working on. That's the export-to-Win7 I needed.
It helps if the slashes are tilted in the right direction...
For the moment, I don't need to get into the host machine's XY directory, so I'm going to postpone
that experiment, but it's great to see another unknown-to-me U2 frame. I'll try it when I have some
time.
To each his own, but now that it's clear that XP Mode easily communicates with Win7, this seems like
a much less roundabout solution than installing a third-party virtual machine and then an operating
system. The all-M$ solution is not only free but also, I'd hope, better integrated.
With one big caveat I didn't mention. No full-screen. Since I always use an XY4 window, and can get
a rather large one on my laptop, that doesn't affect me.
If you require full-screen, DOSBox may be your preference--but with only two windows available at a
time--or Ed Mendelson's Virtual PC 2007 workaround.
