vDos vs. vDosXy

The 32-bit laptop I have been using while traveling over the last 4
months has just failed, and for the remaining 6 weeks of my trip I will
use a borrowed 64-bit laptop.
I'd like to set it up to run XyWrite, as well as some other 16-bit
programs. I have followed the discussion of vDos fairly closely (thanks
to all the contributors!), in anticipation of returning to my 64-bit
desktop at home at the end of the trip, but am unclear of the relation
between vDos and vDosXy.
Given that I want to run 16-bit programs other than XyWrite, should I
install vDos? Or is it better to install vDosXy? Will the other 16-bit
programs probably work fine in vDosXy?
Thanks!
Martin
