I have just transferred all my XY software from my windows 2000 desktop onto a laptop with win
98se. As far as I can see, everything is identical on both systems, but the clip function will not
work in either XY3 or XY4. I am using CLIP.EXE and in the U2 registry I have set EXE_or_VBS=E.
When I try to copy from the clipboard in XY3 I get the message 0 bytes pasted. When I look at the
file CLIP.TXT in the XY3 directory it contains the text to be copied, so it has got that far but
not further.
In XY4 the behaviour is different. A transitory message appears on the screen which says something
like "Cannot find CLIP.VBS" which seems odd, since XY4 should be set up to use CLIP.EXE.
Then I get the message "Waiting .." and a timer countdown from 30 seconds.
One possible problem with my Windows 98se setup is that I have used a piece of software called
98Lite which allows extra Windows components to be removed and it is possible that I have removed a
component that CLIP.EXE requires.
Can anybody tell me which components are essential. (Windows Scripting Host was unloaded, but I
have now reloaded it, but it made no difference.) Any other ideas?
Thanks
Paul Breeze
ps I have reverted to Win98 on the laptop because Windows 2000 was too, too slow.
