NOTA NENE
Folks:
Thought you might be interested in the
conversation I've just had with Steve Semple
(ssemple@xxxxxxxx), the head (manager),
technical support for Nota Bene.
He indicates that they are extremely short
handed and support of the type we (in this user
group) might expect, will be slow and late in
coming. They (Nota Bene) are concentrating on the
users that "just use in writing" rather than those
who stylize the word processor. Their answers
(and for that matter, documentation other than
what is in the HELP) for things like XPL,
START.INT, KBD, DFL, etc. just is NOT being
addressed at this time. When I asked about XPL (I
have a number of extensive XPL programs in support
of my HTML activity), the response was to the
affect: "it should work, for the most part". I
responded with "Should and for the most part
scares me. I can't afford to have it screw up my
work, can't I get a better answer?" He said he'll
try, but it will be a long time in coming.
It would appear, from my vantage point (using
XYWRITE for almost 20 yrs), that the support and
capability is not going to be much better than we
currently get from TTG (Frank, get SMARTWORDS on
the market and give us some better support or you
might well be behind the curve when they get up to
speed).
Thought you folks would like to know. I
continue to use XYWRITE until I get some answers
