I have a longstanding inventory type of document that hasn't been
updated for awhile, and it's overdue. The file is a simple
2-column list, implemented via a setting, with a Tab
placed appropriately on most lines. This has always displayed
onscreen as intended in 3+, and ditto for the printouts.
Description Line {tab @ end of
descr.}
Cost Comment (optional)
(I know that could be considered 3 columns, but the optional
comment is sort of in the r. margin, with just 3 hard spaces of
separation).
Ever since its earliest version, years ago, I have continued to
edit this file in III+ rather than 4. Despite having all (?) the
relevant defaults in SETTINGS.DFL set to emulate the 3+ file
standards, when I open this file in XyDOS 4, it does not line up
properly onscreen, and the printout won't be right either. I
have tried manually changing triangles to DI and LI -- not sure
if DI actually applies to the Tabs -- and it does not make the
difference. Of course, in 3+ there are PT tables, referencing a
particular .PRN file.
What silly, obvious detail have I overlooked here ?
So far, it has just been easier to fire up III+ for revising the
file than to track this one down . . . .
