xydos files in rtf and wordpad

there has been an interesting discussion of tim's program for moving
xydos files to wordpad and back. i use wordpad for printing xydos
files in various fonts, but cannot get it to put page numbers on the
pages. does anyone know how to do that? or do i need to use a later
version of the dreaded ms word for that, or some other more
sophisticated wordprocessor?
