On further investigation, I find some mode values will recognize and implement the ITALFONT = command and other values cause the system to revert to the default font.   The same is probably true of bold -- I just haven't succeeded in finding the right value to effect the font change.  


Results are too unpredictable here to conclude much of anything here.  So please disregard.

This may be unique to xy3, but BOLDFONT = doesn't appear to work.  The font displayed remains the one specified in the initial FONT = command.


And the FONTITAL = command changes not only the italics font, but the underscore display font as well.


No sleep lost, because in Xy3 you can't get "normal" font display with atypical color combinations anyway -- bold, underscore and italics typically have altered colors and surrounding color blocks in my black on off-off white color scheme.  But for the record....


In any case, thanks to Wengier for these many refinements....
