Jim Besser misses OS/2's multitasking now that he uses
Win95. But Win95 does implement preemptive multitasking,
although multi-threading is up to individual applications. I
have no difficulty doing something else while downloading
files.
The potential fly in the ointment is that Win95 does not
implement PM for 16-bit programs. If you are using 16-bit
comm software, it is up to the software to decide whether
you can use XY at the same time. But you can get around that
problem by running them in separate virtual machines, i.e.,
by opening them in separate DOS windows.
