James Bessemer made the following observation, and other have
said similar things:

I suspect that observation is based on experiences of some time
ago, because I believe that almost all calls are now taken live
and disposed of on the spot.
Obviously there are exceptiobs, but I think you would have a
different experience if you called in now.
