There's a lot of variables! For completeness, the whole set
again:
Dell Latitude C600 portable
Bios version A23 (dated 2003)
Windows XP SP2
Screen definition 1400 x 1050
Xy4 in an 80 x 25 window.
No cursor problems: cursoring down or holding down an alpha
key, the screen responds relatively rapidly and definitely
evenly.
The machine isn't to hand but I'll try some of the other
alternatives when it is ..

Thanks. What I forgot to mention in my previous post, however, and what
is of supreme importance, is whether you are running Xy full screen or
in a window? Because I don't think anyone has problems with full screen.
The problems crop up when people need or want to run it within a window.
FWIW, and I didn't spend time checking it, but I THINK I observed the
cursor jerkiness even within a plain DOS prompt window (i.e., the XP VDM
screen).
