Thanks to Nathan for his kind words (note that he said nothing about
bribery). All of us are indebted to him for starting this list and
maintaining it all these years. Thank you, Nathan!

.... you can rest assured that, having chosen Nathan as my role
model, I'll do my best to keep the list as republican, egalitarian
and laissez-faire as ever. (Meaning, of course, that I'll do as
little as possible....)
