If this is really a stable release (i.e., one would not HAVE TO get each
new "upgrade" at $99 each), it sounds promising.
Unfortunately, there is no time-limited demo package to explore (try before buy). They're not very
bright about marketing.
They did have one, years ago (NB DOS, I think), and I tried it. But, of
course, the minute I installed it, 999 thigs got dumped on my plate and
I didn't have time to really test it.
$149 with Lingua (an add-on which XyWrite also had, but I don't
think it ever worked -- I never tried it, and don't even know what it is, then or now). I'm
describing the 99 dollar version.
Lingua? Are you sure? There was an Ibid for XyWrite, that I thought
never worked (I couldn't get it to work, and Leslie Bialler told me he
didn't know of anyone who had gotten it to work, but I did see a mention
in the list archives here from way back of someone's using it
successfully.) It was/is a bibliographical database. At the time, I
could have used it--very much so, when editing symposium papers or
Festschriften, in which each author had used a different style of
bibliogrpahical reference. And now I'm wondering if it could be
configured as a catalguing and circulation database for a small library.
I rather enjoy developing these bridges to modernity, but I suspect for many it is becoming little
more than a matter of following increasingly complicated instructions -- a leap of faith.
Not to worry. Some of us are very used to making leaps of faith. (Grin.)
