Command Stack Utility

After the recent discussion of the command stack, I have
downloaded 2 files from the TTG BBS, tested them, and uploaded
them intact so that they are available via anonymous ftp to
subscribers (or, for that matter, anyone who doesn't want to pay
for a phone call to TTG). STACKXY4.ZIP is the version of
Holmgren's XPL stack recall utility for XY4DOS. STACKXYW.ZIP is
the version for XYWIN. Actually the latter contains all the
files needed for both. The ZIP files contain full and accurate
instructions. I assigned the stack review key to ctrl-
shift-UpArr, so that it replaced the more limited stack review
function in XY4DOS. After trying it out, I decided to assign it
to ctrl-shift-DnArr instead, since the original function is
marginally faster if all I want is to recall the last command
used. The advantage of Holmgren's utility is that you can
recall any command in the stack (which you can make as long as
you want) by typing one or more letters in it.
To download, ftp to CCAT.SAS.UPENN.EDU. Log in as anonymous,
and give your e-mail address as password. At the ftp prompt,
type
binary
and change to pub/eaan. I usually do such things one step at a
time. Then take a directory with
dir
to make sure you are in the right place. Finally do
get
Or, if you are lucky, you can just do
get /pub/eaan/
from the top.
That will get the file you want into your own account in short
order.
