If you ever get it working again, I'd be
interested in the details.
I have what looks like a similar problem.
It's an old file manager (whose origins date
back to CP/M) which works fine in a dos box on
fat32 drives but not in the dos you get when
booting win98 from floppy.
When trying to open or copy a file, there's an
error message saying "unable to open file". I
suspect it's a problem of file control blocks
(fcb's), an old file access system which is no
longer supported by modern versions of dos.
The question boils down to this - will CB86 on a
fat16 drive work in a dos box or will it also
require an earlier version of dos?

My BASIC compiler, CB86, is so old it will work only on its FAT16 drive,
even though it's DOS. Is there some way to make a logical partition
under XP (NTFS) to simulate or be FAT16?
I need to use CB86 in connection with my XyWrite translator, XyBasic.
