Dear Richard
Thanks for your suggestion. I do have an external 500 gig hard drive
which I use for back up plus another pc with a 160 gig hard drive which I will
also use for backup. My concern is not so much a mechanical failure of a
hard drive, but rather malware or virus. I have found if windows is
completely isolated on a logical c drive that invariably it is the windows that
is infected and it is easiest to cure by simply reinstalling it after
reformating the logical c drive. This way I avoid the hassel of
reformating the entire mechanical hard drive and
. Also by using a lot of logical drives it makes it easier to do a
disk cleanup or a disk defrag.
I agree with you that if there is a mechanical failure nothing can
save the data on the drive excpting a prior backup. In 20 or so years of
pc use, I have had only one mechanical failure and I was totally backed up
since luckily I had recognized that I had a failing drive a few days
before.
Dear Flash
I have a tower. I have always used light green on black for
xywrite and wordperfect and was never bothered by the screen fonts. In
this case I am only replacing my pc, not my monitor.
