Hi, Judith. Welcome back to Xywrite. I'll pick up just one of your
questions.
[6] I have already converted more than half of my old files to Word (had
no choice); am I going to have trouble converting them back into Xywrite?
There's been a lot of discussion about this topic just in the last couple
of weeks. You might want to check the archives. However, there are a
couple of straight-forward possibilities:
1) Use Word97 to save your old files as "RTF" (Rich Text Format). Then
use XyWrite filters to import them (File->Import in the XyWrite menus,
import as "Microsoft Rich Text") and save them in Xywrite format.
2) Use a Word macro to convert Word formatting to XyWrite formatting.
Save the files as text only, then open them in XyWrite and clean them up.
I can provide a suitable Word macro if you want to take the second route
(as long as your formatting needs are fairly simple); others on the list
can be more help with the conversion filter approach (#1 above).
Good luck!
Shawn
