USER SET II
XY-> >It should be functional but it isn't. And if you wanted to<

XY-> First let me begin by stating that it is not the policy of the
-> Technology Group, nor its technical support department nor myself
-> to lie to our customers. We have nothing to benefit from such an
As I accused no one of lying, I do not know what you're going on
about. My experience with many tech departments is that unless
I'm persistent, I'm generally told it is a user problem.
And your original manner of answering--privately--didn't exactly
reassure me. Whatever. I'm glad it's a public discussion.
XY-> Our testing of this function indicates that it is fully functional.
-> If you could send exact steps to duplicate this error, we will be happy
-> to try them.
My question would be how thoroughly have you tested it? I myself
began with the punctuation marks (double quotes), which wouldn't
register in either 4.11 or 4.12. However, after your note I tried
other characters: the accented ones. My experience is that if I
began with an accented character, 1959 holds--in both 4.11 and
4.12.
In 4.12, if one first puts an accented user character in the
list; it works. If I then put a double-quote in, the characters
disappear from the list (and if one chooses insert, only a space
is inserted).
If one then chooses an accented character (as the third entry),
both the first character and the punctuation mark appear in the
user-set box.
If one then chooses a punctuation point (as the fourth entry),
the list again disappears from the user box.
If one chooses an accented character (as the fifth entry), the
list reappears.
If one closes XyWrite on the odd number of characters, 1959 in
the DFL shows the list.
If one closes XyWrite on the even number (last being a
punctuation choice), 1959 in the DFL shows nothing (except a
bullet).
XY-> >Moreover, I may not understand the coding after 3.55, but I do<
-> >know how to get value from XPL and 1959 is a blank.<
XY-> At what point are you testing the value of 1959? Immediately after adding
-> the character? The next time you start 4.12? Is the value not
-> being stored in the XWSET.DFL file? Please take the time to answer these
-> questions so that we can track down the exact nature of your problem.
I inserted the PVs in various help frames to get immediate values
as soon as the DLG was activated and choices were made. Then I
began placing the sequence in various positions. They mirror what
I wrote above.
