If this is an issue of entering that character from a particular laptop, I
don't know. The last laptop I used was ancient, by the standards of the
laptops on the market the last few years. (All I recall is that some keys may
be accessed via the FN key, or a sequence involving it.) However, what's to
keep you from borrowing an existing Tilde from another document, and COPYing it
in ?

This is another example of something I've mentioned before. The stock 3+ Help
System had a nice Table of every character, divided by group -- e.g., Math,
Greek, Line Draw char.s, etc. It could enter any desired character at the
cursor position by choosing it from the Command Line scrolling list. There may
be such a table in the stock 4.xx Help System, but I'm not sure where, and
doubt it is nearly as good or easy to use. I expect the jumbo .U2 must have
much more extensive character tables, and in whatever formats exist for them
(3-byte, etc.).
