Thanks, Carl. That's an interesting site for its other utilities, too.
In the meantime, I'm now leaning toward DOSBox rather than Virtual PC, especially since the
indefatigable emendelson of WPDOS fame has also posted a utility for DOSBox that pastes from the
Windows clipboard.
http://vogons.zetafleet.com/viewtopic.php?t=32714&sid=e28e387c9b2aff5e98e650778e715b13
DOSBox is much preferable to Virtual PC 2007 because I can establish a larger window and because it
communicates directly with my XY folder in (actual) C:\Windows.
By contrast, VPC needs a copy of the XY folder inside its virtual machine, and it communicates very
slowly with the actual XY when I need to copy the finished file back to Windows. Mendelson's utility
pastes faster and smoother than VPC's as well. I'm using his background version, which turns the
Pause key into a paste-from-the-clipboard key.
So for anyone else who needs to migrate to Win 7, I'd suggest DOSBox with the utility linked above.
As for copying out of XY....well, we'll cross that bridge while it's burning.
