There are still two random, once-in-awhile but annoying bugs
in 4.017's "Page-Line" view, formerly known as Formatted
View:
1. False Cursor: The screen cursor appears to be at a
certain place in the document; you try to enter a command or
carriage return at that place, and it goes in somewhere else
on the line.
2. Phantom Text: An odd bit of a line will be shadowed"
somewhere else on the screen; if you print the document,
it's not really there.
not really there.
(like that)
Perhaps related to the above, is the occasional circumstance
where HOME will not bring you to the beginning of the
current line, and where the TP (toggle page
formatted/expanded) function call won't work.
Draft view works fine. It would be nice to get Page-Line
fixed, but the above have been around for quite a while and
it's looking like something that we will just have to
tolerate. I don't see any evidence of another full upgrade
of XY DOS coming along, and at $15 for the occasional
maintenance upgrade (the availability of which TTG does not
promote) there can't be much of a revenue stream to pay a
programmer.
On the subject of maintenance upgrades: Why send four disks
with the full product, and require a complete new install?
Couldn't something like PocketSoft's .RTPatch be used?
Microrim uses it for R:Base updates, and it's very
efficient. $200, royalty free, according to a recent
catalog listing.
