RE: XYWRITE digest 1043 - What is ASCII?

The deja vu comes from this subject having been thrashed through about a
year and a half ago on this list.

It would be useful for those of us not on digest (and probably those who
are) to add a more descriptive designation to the subject line of
contributions than a mere digest number (as above).
