This is just a wild guess, and probably wrong for your case, but I think there are .PRN file size
limits (re the stuff that goes into memory when one is loaded) -- for both Xy-3 & Xy4. I recall
there being some printer files where a bunch of possible functions had to be
commented out; if you wanted to activate some disabled feature, you had to then comment out some
other line(s) that did something else and occupied equivalent memory. (I would like to see this
.PRN filesize issue quantified somewhere.) Built-in fonts were the thing most
commonly affected. Maybe your situation falls into this category ?
