Out of curiousity, I set my system date (OS/2 v4 + FixPak 6, which
is Y2K-compliant) to 2001 to test the embedded DAte command. The
default date mask worked fine in both Xy4 (v4.017)
and III+ (v3.58, which is network-compatible). However, embedding
yields "05-28-101" in Xy4; ironically, the older III+
returns the proper result, "05-28-01". In DIRectory listings, III+
lists the creation date of a newly-created file as "05-28-01"
(correct), whereas in 4 you get "05-28-:1" (weird).
There are compelling reasons to upgrade from Xy III+ to 4; getting a
leg up on Y2K isn't one of them. It's hard to conceive of a Y2K
glitch that couldn't be worked around in any version of Xy.
