I use the collapsible outline feature in Word. Its functionality may give some clue as to how it might work in Xy.
Outlining in Word seems to be based on styles. If I have a Heading1 style for heads and a Body style
for the body, I can collapse all the body text under its preceding head(s). The advantage of this
(to me) is that I can now rearrange the heads by dragging them, and the accompanying text follows
along. This is good for rearranging articles for, say, a newsletter.
I'm sure there are many other uses for the outline feature (including actual outlining, which in
over 30 years of professional writing I've never done in the school-taught formal way). But the
collapsible outline is just one tool in the toolkit and can be used for anything you can think of.
Bottom line: I *think* the road to sanity in an outlining feature for XyWrite might be based on
styles.
