This is from memory, 13-year-old memory at that: .
3.57 was the last version of 3+ officially released by XyQuest. 3.58 was
in development when the unfortunate would-have-been deal with IBM was
negotiated and you know the rest. 3.58, as I remember having been told
"way back when" would have been a network-capable version of 3+. Whether
there were any other improvements made to it, I could not tell you. I
started with 3.54 in the late 1980s, upgraded soon thereafter to 3.55.
3.56 (I do not remember ever having installed it) was issued because of
legal action regarding the spellchecker. 3.57 fixed some bugs left over
from 3.55 and, maybe, added a few new XPL features (I don't recall for
certain). I know that these versions were all officially announced to
registered end-users on XyQuest's list and/or notice of which could be
found on their BBS. To the best of my recollection 3.58 was never
officially announced although clearly some XyQuest Pets had access to
what I suppose was a Beta version. I was not such a Pet. I would imagine
that whatever bug fixes and improvements would have been offered there
were eventually incorporated in version 4.0x, along with many others.
As I said, however, this is from 13-year-old memory. What improvements
3.57 had over 3.55 I can no longer tell you, as the last time I ran
version 3+ was three computers ago.

Robert mentioned XY 3.58 in a recent message as the most stable version of XY of all. I have 3.57,
but not 3.58. Does anybody know if there is any significant difference between the two?
