Absolutely. Emulation programs like "RealPC" work fine, and a G4 has so
much oomph that you will never notice the extra computing work going on in
the electronic circuits.

Nisus has a XYwrite-like cult following in the Mac world. Of course it is
no XYwrite, but it does seem to have some features one can get addicted to
(non-contiguous blocking, for example).
