sound with Xy on windows machine

Thanks for the link to beep.exe, and for the suggestion about PC beep.

Unforunately, neither helped with the problem: "PC beep" is not muted
and set to a nice medium volume level; and the beep provided by
beep.exe makes a satisfying noise (I did not try the file to play
"Mary had a little lamb" included in the zip archive).

So whatever is going on, it doesn't have to do with the PC beep
settings in Win2K.
