The machine that dings under Win98SE (build 4.10.2222 A) is a Sony
Vaio desktop PCV-R545DS, bought in Feb 2000.
windows\system\power.drv 2KB 4/23/1999 version 4.10.1988
windows\system\vpowerd.vxd 37KB 9/28/1999 version 4.10.2223
My control panel's Power settings do not have an option to force APM
1.0 mode. (Maybe because it's a desktop?)
How did you figure out what APM version you have?
In XyWin (4.13), va/nv bi also yields 0 for me. (No surprise there.)
