I've so far been too busy even to install my copy of NBWIN and therefore
can't comment very usefully, except to nudge you in the direction of
specifying the version of NBWIN and the OS.

It's so long since I used XyWin with Win31 that I don't remember what it
was like. And I've never used it with NT or OS/2, let alone any Mac
emulation of Windows. XyWin is not a particularly stable program and
certainly not an adequately debugged one, but for it to crash Win9x is a
very rare occurrence indeed. I'm not sure whether I'm questioning the
solidity of your OS or reassuring you that there's another not-too-bad
possibility that combines Xy and TrueType, and I instead leave you to draw
your own conclusions (which I hope are not too melancholy).
