Good going. I can't imagine how one would uncover something
like this, but you did.
Hi all, I think I may have solved
my problem with 'now' giving the wrong time. I looked at my basic
properties for editor and found that, under the 'compatibility' tab, for
some reason I can't remember, I had told editor to execute in Win95 mode
and to run as an administrator. I disabled both these settings, and so
far, I (a) haven't found anything the matter in general (so why did I put
it in Win95 mode to start with?) and (b) 'now' seems to be behaving. More
later.

I doubt it writes a file. It feels like a screen refresh problem to
me, though its roots may run deeper. You might try bumping up the
priority of XyWrite's ntvdm process.
