: XyWrite is an amazing editor (with a long learning curve), but I
: found it unacceptable for HTML authoring for one reason: it puts
: EOF (end of file) marks at the end of all documents. Most other
: word processors, and XyWrite itself, don't display this hidden
: character, but if you view an HTML document made with XyWrite
: through a browser such as Netscape, you'll see a little square
: at the end of the document. [...] --Scot / shacker@xxxxxxxx (Scot Hacker)
I know most subscribers consider this eof business a big yawn, but I'll
say it again: That ascii 26 in every file gives the lie to the xyW claim to
being pure ascii if that's understood to mean ascii 32-127. We know how
to get rid of it (don't we, Harry? ;) ) even if Scot doesn't, but I sure
hope xy32 has an option to shed it without resort to work-arounds. ... Kenny?
: RE: MY FAVORITE HTML AUTHORING TOOL...NOTEPAD
I don't know if Daniel has been following this thread in
comp.infosystems.www.authoring.html. A substantial number of web authors
have posted agreement, and the sentiment turns up often in other threads.
I hold my peace, awaiting xy32's enhanced ability as an html editor. --a
