Brenda, you are certainly not alone in the sea of loyal Xywrite users and
especially beta testers who are very disturbed at the beta site selection
process. Unfortunately, as the letter stated, hundreds of very qualified
Xywrite users (who have in the past provided critical feedback) were not
selected if not for any other reason than the limited number of beta test sites
proposed originally. Basically, with the incredible amount of time that our
Technical Support department spends providing test results and various feedback
to development with regards to Version IV, having a widespread beta test would
overflow the support resources and be counterproductive. This was only one of
the issues considered. Another is the incredible product-feature change rate w
hich has been occurring. With fetaures and functionality changing at this rate,
it would be very difficult to update a wide range of beta testers efficiently
and without information falling through the cracks. Therefore, a limited beta
test site selection was incorporated. Please understand that this new version
is not comparible with the release of Xywrite III Plus. Xywrite IV is a massive
program, mostly because of the graphics capability, but also with all the new
features not related to graphics. The size of the program is more than double
that of III Plus and requires a hard disk and certain monitor types, etc.
Documentation falls in the same scenario. With the program hanging so often,
documentation follows. I might suggest though, that you contact our Marketing
department with that request.
