Glad you mentioned these points, Wengier. The ability to include
comments on the vDos-lfn command line is a superb feature, especially
for use in batch files. And the improvement to the keyboard speed
control settings is an important enhancement, as I've discovered after
a full day of heavy-duty testing. This improvement alone makes this
upgrade worth installing.
With regard to the vDos-lfn installer for XyWrite v1.53, it's worth
noting that if you plan to use it to install the current build of vDos-
lfn over an existing vDos-lfn installation, a simple edit to config.txt
BEFORE running the installer will ensure that the installer preserves
all of your current config settings (and some autoexec settings as
well). Just add the line:
#RESTORE_ENABLED
anywhere in CONFIG.TXT, save the file, quit vDos-lfn, and run the
installer v1.53. At the end of the installation process, you will need
to check the box to "Restore values from previous AUTOEXEC.TXT and
CONFIG.TXT files".
And here's a note relating to the Liberation-Mono family of fonts,
which are suitable for use as screen fonts with vDos-lfn. The installer
includes the regular and bold versions of these fonts (named
LibMono.ttf and LibMonoB.ttf, respectively). Since the italic and bold-
italic versions are also quite useful, I've uploaded a ZIP archive that
includes the regular, bold, italic, and bold-italic versions, here:
http://users.datarealm.com/ammaze/xy/LIB-MONO.ZIP
The constituent files have long file names (LFNs):
LiberationMono-Regular.ttf
LiberationMono-Bold.ttf
LiberationMono-Italic.ttf
LiberationMono-BoldItalic.ttf
These are fine for use in config.txt in vDos-lfn; for example:
FONT = LiberationMono-Regular
BOLDFONT = LiberationMono-Bold
BOITFONT = LiberationMono-BoldItalic
ITALFONT = LiberationMono-Italic
We will plan to include all of these versions of Liberation-Mono in the
next release of the installer.
