Getting the "clutter" out of the way is exactly what TOGLTAGS (in
the big XYWWWEB.U2) does -- the idea being to emulate the toggle
between draft and eXPanded views in normal editing. If you're
running Xy4 (or XyWin, though operation is less reliable there),
give it a try.
