I know a few real poets, and they *all* use a pencil.

problem is, that hardware/software isn't perfect, and software designers
necessarily must do the thinking, & make the choices, that knowledgable users
might otherwise do/make. The result is less than 100% satisfaction. (But
greater than 0%.)
I agree with Harry's wife: most people should restrict themselves to Word,
Outlook, and I.E. (never doing anything unusual), and don't customize anything.
The alternative is far too complicated. Results in tears and hair-tearing.
And I agree with Harry: why and how did IBM remove the function keys on the
left and then put ctrl and alt in absurd positions. It's the end of touch
typing. You _always_ have to *lift your hand* and *look first* to find a
top-line F-key! Ridiculous.
