This is what I would do. No guarantees that it will work, however.
1. Uninstall NB
2. Copy the NB CD to a subdir on your hard drive.
3. Boot up in Safe Mode.
4. Install NB from the subdir (because I assume the CD drive won't work in
safe mode)
5. Reboot normally.
