Sorry, Manuel. I tried to scale that mountain years ago, but
finally had to give up. Anyway, I'm not big on outlines, so the
motivation isn't really there.
Hmm, I'm wondering if the Table on Contents and Extract Table of
Contents commands couldn't be used for a somewhat kudgy workaround? I
don't seem to have any existing files here with index entries spec'd in
them, so I'd have to create a test doc from scratch. But suppose one
marked eveyrthing one wanted to be part of the outline with an T1 (or 2
or 3 or whatever), then (using an XPL routine, of course), when one
wanted to see the TofC, command TX 1 ,outline.txt EX, then CA
outline.txt. The problem would be existing outline.txt files, which
would have to be erased or saved under another name. Unless the TX
command admits of NV switches? (Haven't used it in donkey's years, so I
don't recall.). I know I at one time had a set of macros that combined
T1, C1 [2,3, whatever] and US H1 [2, 3,...] codes to format headers so
that they automatically included the T code and an auto-incrementing number.
