Re -- loading xy from a flash drive.
I've done it lots of times, mostly to test computers. (I've found some where
my personal keyboard does not work.) Sometimes I screw up -- when I try to
load without switching to the flash drive as a disc -- then it looks for the
keyboard and other stuff in the main drive, and can't find them.
Switch to the flash drive before you load. Probably e:
Another problem I have -- my test (Xywrite) files are in directory /A on my
home machines, and my startup file automatically switches the XY window to
c:/A. Since most windows machines don't have a /A directory, this confuses
them. I don't even know how to get something from one of the windows files
into Xy, except by saving it in /A first. For some reason, Xy does not
recognize "My Documents" or "My Briefcase" as a valid directory.

I’d like to load XyWrite to a flash
drive and operate from the flash drive rather than from the
computer hard drive.
I’m mainly worried about the path
command. Will this have to be changed on the
laptop?

I think this issue was covered sometime
last year.

Sounds like you're referring to "Portable Xy." There
should be good coverage on that at the XyWWWeb site,
which I think should still be up even if XySearch is
down. (Yup, the former page just came up fine.)
