64-bit conundra

I'm new to the 64-bit XP mode method of dealing with XyWrite. Am I
right in believing that I can't any longer ask it to address the
"c:drive" as such but must do something like "net use g:" and then
access c: as g:, having changed any references in configuration files
that call for c: to g: ? Any other words of wisdom to give the newbie
to this method of working? In other words, that I can't ask
XyWrite-in-XPMode to address as C: what really is C: rather than the
XP environment's presumably more or less temporary C: ?
(And off topic, I now have 3 Win7 machines, two 64, one 32. One has
McAfee AV, another has Norton IS and the third has Norton 360. _None_
(this is painful!) can find the other on Windows Homegroup
networking. Preliminary research suggests to disable all these AV
suites, at which point networking will magically work, then reinstall
the AV suites, at which point they will permit the now-pre-existing
network to continue existing. So far I have found that disabling
their respective firewalls gets me nowhere. I haven't done this
disinstallation yet - - before I do, has anybody got any wisdom on this?)
It's all very tiresome, but I don't want to have a dedicated 'old'
XyWrite machine. I need to have it work on the new stuff. I would
suppose that 64-bit NB, whenever it appears, might now seem a more
attractive possibility.
Many thanks - - -
