In Xy4DOS, I wouldn't go over about 4.1 or 4.2 meg per file. There's a
serious bug in Xy that gives a bogus message about your disk being full when
creating the overflow file. TTG (especially Dave Erickson) is aware of this,
but it's apparently a bit tricky and hidden somewhere in the guts of the
editor. Dave's had bigger fish to fry, apparently.
The upper limit of about 4.2 meg applies to the total number of files open --
so you're likely to have problems if you have a 2-meg file and a 3-meg file
open at the same time.
