Re. the "X" marker...

It may have something to do with the amount of RAM one has,
plus the way this RAM is configured, for I have never seen
this "X" on my machine. I do have a large amount of RAM.
On a completely different matter, does anyone remember the
U2 command that produces this sort of file (see below); The
periods are hard RETURNs. I seem to recall that it was a U2
routine created by Carl, but I could be wrong. My problem
is that search as hard as I will, I cannot find the routine
in question. It likely is one of the log-like or diary-like
routines. I tried them and none were like what you see below.
