is there any kind of 'break' in Xy?

Every few months or so XyWrite on Vista freezes. As I have autosave
set for every three minutes, I don't lose much. I find myself,
however, sometimes resenting even losing that. My obvious solution is
to set autosave to backup even more frequently; my files are seldom
large anyway.
But is there _anything_ you can do, as first aid, on the very few
occasions when XyWrite crashes? I used to push the sysrequest or
break key - - something like that - - pointless, but vaguely satisfying.
Another thing - - is there a way to find the location of your active
settings.dfl file when you have forgotten where it is? It is a long,
long time since I have done any customization on XyWrite!
