Thanks Patricia, the advice that you gave enabled a restricted
XyWrite to perform the expansion of shortforms perfectly. The directory is
now alphabetized and the keyboard no longer stutters. Incorporating
settings.dfl and Dsort into the startup.int file made all the difference.
