We will address the issue of the 1A at the end of the file in the new release.
XyWrite has long placed that character there because it was the convention that
under DOS, ascii files were terminated witn a 1A, and in fact many packages such
as compilers and other programs recognize the 1A as the end of the file.
In XyWrite the 1A also serves the function of delimiting the end of the editable
file, and we do in fact store other information after the 1A. For instance, if
you have DocInfo turned on, that information is stored after the 1A. The
journal I alluded to in the new product is also stored there.
Now you can set the 1A to any character you want when you bring the file up, and
then you can delete it. If you have information after the 1A, however, you will
then see it along with the rest of the document. For creating HTML files with
the current product, then, you should certainly turn DocInfo off.
As I said, the new release will allow you to store files without the 1A at all,
which should solve that problem. In the meantime, you can delete it.
