Let me expand a bit on the keyboard issue, which is THE major customization
feature for XyWriters. The way this SHOULD work, in my opinion -- or one way it
might work -- is to leave unassigned in KBD those keys that have standard Windows
functions, e.g. in TABLE=ALT, the letter H would be unassigned, i.e. either
simply omitted entirely from the table, or else commented out:
;35=
And thus, in this scenario, the keystroke bleeds through to the operating system
and triggers the standard action ("Help"). If, however, we choose to activate
Alt-H (assign something to it in KBD), and thereby deprive ourselves of the
standard Windows function, that's our problem -- but at least we are in control.
Since XyWin was introduced, these damn Windows preemptions have been the critical
impediment to a broad adoption of the newer GUI versions of XyWrite. I trust that
you took that point years ago, because a lot of us certainly pounded on it. My
question is, have you provided a solution?
