With regard to copying Windows, there is a shareware product called
MirrorFolder
I downloaded and installed the test version and it messed up my Win98SE. It
crashed explorer, which it "integrates" with.
Granted that my system may be less stable in general than yours, be warned.
It did seem to uninstall properly (via add/remove programs).
