No, I think Flash was talking about something else: if you have, say,
physical drive 1, which is all C:. and physical drive 2, which is
divvied up into e:. f:., and g:, you don't need to have two pagefile.sys.
But putting pagefile.sys on its own partition (or one that is rarely
accessed for anything else; but dedicated is best) does definitely
make for more efficient operation: doesn't get fragmented, faster
shutdowns (esp. on 9x).
So I'm outta luck, as a laptop user. I could use my external drive,
through USB, but the slowness of data transfer has to negate any speed
pickup.
No. All you need for additional partitions is space and a good
partitioning tool. I prefer to do it from the get-go, but if you have
the room (defrag the drive first), you can do it with Partitiion Magic
or SystmeeCommander. (There are probably other such tools out there; I
know of the freeware Partition Logic, but hesitate to recommend
something I've never used.)
