Michael Edwards.

[Daniel Say:]

My apologies, Daniel (and anyone else who was annoyed at my posting), for
giving the impression of being a spammer; it's not my usual practice. (I would
personally rather have a thousand virus warnings than a single real virus
though, and I've often found virus warnings on mailing lists useful.)
I do feel a bit justified by the following, though:
----------------------------------------
[Judith Davidsen, quoting myself:]
>> It may seem pedantic to point out such a small error
>
>It is not pedantic and it is not a small error.
>
>Your corrected spelling let me find "Kro$oft says not today"
>plus references to kak.hta and other kak junk in Morris
>Krok's "old fashion" message way back on April 13.
>
>Even though I sent the April 13 message to trash and then
>emptied the trash some time back, the message appears twice
>on my C drive, once under /Program
>Files/Netscape/users/jdavidsen/mail/inbox, and once under
>/Program Files/......../trash.
----------------------------------------
This shows that at least some people may have found my correction useful.
I can assure the list that I am not the kind of person who lightly passes
on the next virus scare, chain letter, child-with-cancer appeal, joke, or other
assorted spam, and I think very carefully before posting anything blatantly
off-topic. In this case, considering that we had been discussing the virus
generally, that I was a part of that, and that I earlier passed on specific
advice about detecting the virus, I felt justified - morally obliged, even - to
post the correction upon discovering it.
I only hope no-one has suffered inconvenience from this worm due to the
delay in getting correct information because of my error.
I will not harp on about the virus, Daniel, and will try to bring any
further postings closer to XY-Write or at least to what plenty of other people
have been discussing. (Topics tend to drift rather than change suddenly and I
don't think one can be too legalistic about what's on-topic and what's
off-topic.)

>On a related issue, in our--mine, too--haste to find fault
>with IE and Outlook Express,
-------------------------------------
Oh, yes, finding fault with them *is* enjoyable. I use both, too - and I
*love* finding fault with them - and it's very easy to do, too.
-------------------------------------
>we seem to have overlooked
>McAfee's warning that Netscape versions above 4.0 are also
>vulnerable to Kak.

First I've heard about that. Thanks for letting me know.
Regards,
Michael Edwards.
