>Not XTree, really, for other reasons. It will choke and die
if you try to access -- for example -- the quantity of stuff
that would be found on a full CD. Today's larger hard drives
would also be a 'No Go.' Luckily there is ZTree, a lookalike,
work-alike successor, which is ready for today's file management
contingencies.
I know that Xtree has its limitations. But if you work with it on a virtual 2 GB disk under
VirtualPC like I do, it performs very well. CDs are another matter, but then there is Win 3.1 file
manager or another my favorite Praxim command line shell. Win 3.1 with Praxim as the shell is very
elegant and sleek. Tray command line by Zeev Gokhman is a similar command line interface for XP.
This is another abandonware gem (latest version 5.03 that works with XP needs a tweak to overcome
its shareware limitation, the author no longer sells registrations).
Best regards,
Kari Eveli
